There’s an unlimited source of net profit for every practice owner in the UK. Here’s how to access it

This is the Vets Mastermind. It’s about growing your net profit; solving your staff & operational issues…
and creating a business that thrives when you’re not there

Hello, I’m Paul Green, one of the UK’s leading veterinary marketing experts.

I’ve worked closely with vets for coming up to a decade now. And I’ve noticed a worrying trend that’s afflicting thousands of UK practice owners in their late 40s, their 50s and into their 60s.

These are practice owners who on the surface have great businesses. The kind of businesses that others in the profession admire from a distance. They’re well run and profitable.

But there’s a price to pay for this. Because underneath the calm on the surface, the business is riddled with constant, never ending problems. Staff; recruitment; controlling the chaos; getting vets to charge properly; attracting new clients; trying to grow the health plan; etc etc…

The net effect, is that the business requires an enormous amount of time and energy to keep it running at such a high level of quality. Am I describing your practice?

This is one of the factors that has fuelled the enormous consolidation of UK veterinary. When a big player offers 7x EBITDA (and more) to walk away from all the problems… well, that’s very hard to refuse.

There are several different layers of practice ownership.

Some practice owners are stuck doing clinical work 6 days a week, 50 weeks a year.. They are working their way towards the inevitable breakdown or major health scare. And don’t even get me started on them personally doing their own out of hours…

Others have escaped the worst extreme of the intense clinical demands. But the practice still desperately needs them every day. In effect, they have created a prison of their own design… and have then locked themselves inside.

And then there are those who have figured out how to run the business at a higher level. But because they have multiple locations, there’s always one branch that’s falling over somewhere.

In fact, far too many practice owners – even the successful ones – still suffer from these three core problems.

1) Not enough personal reward

Your practice might churn out a good level of net profit (and therefore personal income for you). But it’s not as efficient as it could be. And there’s a good reason for that…

2) Little time to sweat your assets

All your work time is taken up keeping the practice running well. So you have virtually no time to get better at winning new clients, growing your health plan, etc. And the knock on effect of this is…

3) Low amounts of personal time

Even if you only do a restricted amount of clinical work these days, the practice still seems to suck much of your life and energy from you. Your family are desperate for this to change…

There is another way. And I want to help you find it

You see, I’m working with a small, hand picked group of practice owners right now who are battling against this horrifying trend.

They’re generating lots more net profits. Taking more personal income out of the business. And taking more time off because they have fewer staff problems and client demands to deal with.

Many of them are even taking more than one holiday a year! (interestingly, those that do have lots of holidays typically see their practices grow faster… that’s not by chance; the two things are totally connected)

So what are these practice owners doing differently to you? Simple. They are regularly stepping back, and spending a little time working ON the business instead of just IN in (in it = clinical work and the dreaded “admin”).

"This is a group of quick thinking practice owners and managers. Who, with Paul's sharp mind, find solutions to issues that are holding you and the practice back. Paul ensures that there is a healthy level of discussion about profit, the bottom line and turnover.

"I have benefited from this group by thinking outside of the box and thoroughly look forward to each meeting. The group is a safe place to discuss issues. The only thing you need to bring is an open mind."

Vets Mastermind is carefully designed to improve these critical 8 core pillars of your practice

Create an unlimited tap of new clients

You’ll discover exactly how to get new clients, any time you want them. You just turn on the “new client tap”.

This is about building multiple audiences of prospects using your website, Facebook and Instagram. And then educating and entertaining these audiences, so that at the point they’re ready to pick a new vet, your practice is the first name in their mind.

Stop losing happy clients to crappy reminders

It’s baffling why most practices tolerate weak vaccine reminders that deliver low response rates… and then keeping using them year after year!

You’ll discover how to put together a reminder sequence that really delivers,  using a mixture of text messages, postcards, voicemails, targeted Facebook adverts and maybe even live phone calls.

Build a solid base of monthly recurring revenue

Ignore the myth that you’ll only ever get 20% of your clients onto a health plan. That’s utter nonsense.

Hundreds and hundreds more of your clients will join, when it is designed corrected, positioned well, and sold to them in the right way.

You’ll discover how to get at least half of your clients to join your health plan.

Get vets to charge properly, and increase prices

It’s insane how many practices tolerate bad commercial behaviour, that in any other profession would be called “stealing”. Getting vets to charge properly is a fundamental basic.

You’ll discover how to influence your vets to want to charge properly. And the areas where prices can easily be increased, and literally no-one will notice (including your staff).

Permanently increase average revenue per pet

If you can get even a quarter of your clients to choose to buy more from you, the financial fortunes of your practice will change for ever.

Selling is about the right systems, as well as the right staff. You’ll discover how to turn the whole practice into a selling machine, in a way that delights clients; rather than annoying them. This is great for long-term retention, too.

Improve your net profit margins (and personal income)

We’ve all had at least one month where we worked our socks off… and were horrified to discover there was no money left for us at the end of the month. That sucks. And it kills your love for the practice.

You’ll discover how to permanently boost net profit margins to either give you a greater personal income… or spend it on other people, buying back your time.

Get the most out of your staff (even the internal terrorists)

As much as we’d like to clone ourselves and do everything to our high personal standards, that’s the route to a stroke or heart attack.

You’ll discover how to get more out of your best staff, and fix (or fire) the worst. And no matter how difficult recruitment is, you shoudn’t be scared of your bad staff leaving… you should be scared of them staying!

Live your life fully as an awesome partner and parent

The definition of success is having enough time and cash to do what you want to do; and meaningful work to give you the sense of achievement.

You’ll discover the small tweaks that will give you an enviable work/life balance. Beautifully, when you get this right, it helps your staff do a better job (and be happier), and the practice to grow faster and bigger.

This is bloody powerful stuff. And this is how we do it
There are 5 key components to Vets Mastermind

Component 1
A 121 Discovery Day with me
We’ll build a customised growth & marketing strategy for your practice

In a structured way, we’ll explore what you’re trying to achieve with your life, and your practice. All that’s good, and what’s not working right now.

Then we’ll put together a series of strategies and tactical plans for your practice. These will be highly customised to your ambitions, and available resources.

Throughout our day, we’ll work together to:

  • Shape your vision for the best possible life for you and your family
  • Figure out what you need and want from the practice, and the right goal to achieve that
  • Pick the right strategies to achieve the goal
  • Select the most appropriate tactics, to implement the strategies
  • Looking at how you can get all of this done, while actually spending less time at work

All Discovery Days are done in central Milton Keynes – easy to get to off the M1; and the West Coast main railway line.

"The meetings are a great chance to get inspired, learn how to improve my practice's desireability, and to set concrete goals to push the business on."

Component 2
Every month: A boardroom mastermind meeting

This is at the heart of Vets Mastermind. Every month we meet for a full day in central Milton Keynes (junction 14 of the M1, or 35 mins from central London on the train).

It’s a 10am start, finishing between 5pm and 6pm. We have a private boardroom. Lunch and all refreshments is provided.

Throughout the day, we get progress updates from each practice in the room. We explore in detail how to speed up progress. You’ll learn as much from discussing other practices, as you will discussing your own.

This Practice Mastermind is structured to help you improve net profitability by tackling the small number of areas that make the biggest difference (the powerful theory of marginal gains).

And there’s a huge bonus:
Each monthly meeting you attend counts as 7 hours of CPD

The Royal College has clarified that a monthly meeting of practice owners and managers, discussing aspects of practice management and how to better to serve clients, counts as CPD.

So that’s up to 84 hours of CPD you can claim every year.

Component 3
Every week:
An implementation helpline

To really Get Things Done, you need access to someone who can answer your implementation questions, and remove any blocks to progress.

So every single week I make myself available to you for an hour.

You can drop in for a 121 video call to ask me any question you have about growing or marketing your practice. In fact, anything at all.

The implementation helpline is scheduled on different days of the week, and at different times, so you have plenty of opportunity to access my direct help.

And if it’s not convenient, just drop me an email to schedule a 121 call when suits both  our diaries.

“Vets Mastermind has been instrumental in changing the way I think about my practice. Paul’s way of running it doesn’t offer a quick fix, because there is no such thing.

“Instead he guides you to find your own solutions to which you will remain more committed. Paul knows our foibles and has seen all our mistakes, but better than this he’s seen how success comes about.”

Component 4
Every day: Support from me and your peers in a secret Vets Mastermind Facebook group

Nothing beats instant feedback from people you trust. So you’ll benefit from daily contact with your new peer group on Facebook.

This is a secret Facebook group – no-one will be able to see you’re a member, let alone the content you write. This will give you a true sense of community with your new colleagues. And be a valuable resource as you grow your practice.

In addition, every Monday morning you’ll declare the one thing you most want to achieve that week. Basic psychology tells us that when you commit to an action in front of a group of trusted peers, you are dramatically more likely to actually do it.

Component 5
Small and powerful: This Vets Mastermind is strictly for 13 practice owners only

This number is the perfect balance.

It’s a group big enough to give you a varied peer group. But at the same time each practice gets a high level of personal attention from me.

Critically, you are protected by two strong guarantees

Guarantee 1: Your competitors will be locked out

When you join the Vets Mastermind, you are guaranteed that none of your direct competitors will be in your group.

If one of your competitors is already in the group, then unfortunately we will not be able to accept you. You can ask to join the waiting list.

Guarantee 2: A return of at least twice your investment

This is powerful stuff. So powerful, that we guarantee that if you do the work, you’ll get the results.

Attend at least 10 of the year’s meetings, and implement the things you say you will. And we guarantee a return of at least twice what you invested. That’s a minimum. If you don’t get that return, Paul will work with you 121 at no further cost to you.

You don’t have to commit to anything until you’re convinced you’ll love it!

Attend a “try before you buy” trial day for just £99 + vat. Meet with Paul Green, and the other members of the group. And take part in a powerful and compelling boardroom Mastermind day. Plus you’ll benefit from a month of full Vets Mastermind membership, including the weekly implementation helpline, and daily Facebook group.

If you don’t like it, you just walk away.

If you do like it, choose the best package for you. And choose from a 6 month, 9 month or 12 month membership.

Here’s what to do next

The next stage is to set up a 15 minute business growth consultation phone call with my business partner, practice growth specialist Ben Smith.

We need to check that we’re not already working with one of your competitors. And you need to check your practice would benefit.
